
Ravnica is prevented from falling into catastrophe by the existence of the guildpact - the magically enforced law that keeps the guilds in check. While physical conflicts abound on Ravnica, the true power in the world city arguably resides in its politics.

Some of their agents aren't even aware of who employs them, and few are ever exposed to the full truth behind their designs. The secretive-to-a-fault nature of the Dimir also allows for internal power struggles and some very cloak-and-dagger adventures as cells are rarely aware of what the other aspects of the guild are getting up to. These surveillance-obsessed spymasters have their talons dug into every secret on Ravnica and they work well as both player characters and antagonists. Stealth and skill-based games, featuring conspiracies and espionage, would undoubtedly involve the machinations of House Dimir.

An Orzhov-based campaign could be a series of heists, hits on rival guilds, or a list of bounty-hunter contracts to collect. To the Orzhov, where there is law there is both crime and the opportunity for profit. “So many good people have been involved in creating the world we see today, and it’s been wonderful to see it come to life.Virtually all the guilds and the many guildless citizens of the city might find themselves on the opposite end of the law, but the crime lords cloaked in the religion known as the Orzhov Syndicate might be the most comfortable in that role. “It’s been sixteen years since I planted the first seeds that would become Eberron, and watching it grow has been an amazing journey,” said Baker in the same press release.

Wizards also announced that Wayfarer’s Guide to Eberron, the fan-favorite high-fantasy noire setting created by Keith Baker in 2002, would be available as a $19.99 digital download starting today. There’s even an adventure available for download, X Marks The Spot, set in Ixalan that you can run right now. That includes Plane Shift: Innistra d, Plane Shift: Amonkhet, Plane Shift: Kaladesh and Plane Shift: Ixalan. Since then, Wizards has made each of its new settings available as a fully-produced, free D&D sourcebook.

The process began in 2016 with the Zendikar plane. This isn’t the first time that planes from the world of Magic have been ported over to D&D. “With the huge surge in popularity of D&D and Magic’s commitment to bring the lore and storytelling to life, the timing seemed perfect,” added Nathan Steward, director of D&D. “It’s super cool for fans of D&D and Magic to be playing together in the same multiverse,” said Elaine Chase, vice president, global brand strategy and marketing for Magic: The Gathering, in a press release. The $49.95 hardcover sourcebook should be in stores on Nov. Now, it’s announced a formal crossover with Dungeons & Dragons called Guildmaster’s Guide to Ravnica. Three related card sets will carry the classic collectible card game into its 26th year. In May, Wizard of the Coast announced that the Magic: The Gathering would be returning to the plane of Ravnica.
